Orbit is an open-world space exploration game where you must find your way through the cosmos. You control a damaged and lost probe trying to collect resources, rebuild itself, and ultimately resume communications with Earth.

How to Play

Use WASD to rotate and move. Click on an asteroid to explode it. Collect the resulting ores. You can explore a massive open space-themed world. Collect hidden "module bases" and combine them with resources in the crafting menu (accessed via the space station you spawn next to) to build modules. Don't run out of fuel! There are four asteroid types: Copper, Aluminum, Lead, and coal. The first three are used to craft--coal refills fuel. Each module crafted gives a small (or large) advantage, making it easier to complete the game.

Story

A space probe is launched from Earth. Its journey is going well... until a speck of space dust demolishes five critical modules on the probe. The probe loses its rock analyser, communications, cameras, navigation module, and magnets. The probe must find its way around, locate the bases of the modules, and combine them with ores collected from asteroids to rebuild itself and continue its journey.

Modding

To use a mod, name the mod file "mod.gd" and place it in the game directory. Only the mod.gd file will be loaded, to cycle between mods you can simply rename the files. Download free mods: https://future-games.site/orbit/modding

I think the Modkit should be free, like the Hello Neighbor Modkit (Full game costs money)

But it's your decision anyways.

That wouldn’t make sense, because you can’t test your mod without the full game.

(+2)

See some Hello Neighbor Modkit tutorials online.

Some bits of the full game are in the Modkit

Not possible with Orbit sorry :)

(+1)

Oh OK. That is understandable

Hey Future Games! I saw your news post about Orbit modding! I think that’s a great idea!

However, I suggest you to release a Modding Kit full of assets and scripts from Orbit so that people can mod the game. I also suggest you to host a competition for Orbit Mods.

It’s kind of like what TinyBuild did with Hello Neighbor. They hosted a Modding competition where people modded Hello Neighbor. But it’s more than just that. People made their own game with the assets.

To make modding easy, they released a Modding kit with assets, scripts, and sample scenes to get you inspired and started.

I’m planning on doing the same thing with my game, “I HAVE TO PEE!”, once it comes out. It’s currently being made in Scratch, but I will remake it in Unity along with releasing a Mod kit so people can make their own mods.
